DIY Car Cleaning Hacks for a Fresh, Mess-Free Ride

Okay, confession time. My car is typically a disaster! I only have two kids right now and I can’t get it together. I know there are lots of moms out there with the same problem that have a full minivan. I’m sharing some tips to help us all! With a long list of to-do’s, cleaning the car is usually at the very bottom. These DIY car cleaning hacks are easy to do in short bursts of cleaning fervor or are things you can do on the go.

Paper Towel Tube Vacuum Extender!

Vacuum cleaner with hose attachment.

I HATE vacuuming the car. All those nooks and crannies make it nearly impossible to get those pesky crumbs that you can see, but not touch. This tip is probably my favorite of these DIY car cleaning hacks because it seriously saves your sanity!

All you need to do to get to those elusive crumbs, is a paper towel tube (or toilet tissue tube), and a vacuum with a hose attachment. Just stick the paper towel tube on the end of the vacuum extension or in place of the hose. You can manipulate the paper towel tube to get right down into those tiny spaces that your regular attachment can’t.

Super easy, and who doesn’t have paper towel rolls!

Nitty Gritty Toothbrush Tool

I use old toothbrushes for a lot of cleaning tasks now. Shower grout, window tracks, faucets. It’s also a great tool to use in the car. My DIY car cleaning hacks would not be complete without sharing this tip.

Toothbrushes are great for cleaning out cup holders, especially if you’ve spilled something. They also work great to get in and around your console if that needs shining up and for your air vents.

DIY Dryer Sheet Dust Remover

I love to use dryer sheets on baseboards. It’s a super popular trick. The dryer sheet not only cleans off the dust and dirt, but leaves a fresh scent as you go.

You can use this same trick to get dust off your dashboard. That area is always super dusty. You can keep dryer sheets in the glove compartment as well as your toothbrush (just pop it in a travel case) so you can clean on the go as you see the need.

Crumb Consuming Lint Roller Hack

A lint roller is another great item to keep in the car for quick touch ups. If you have crumbs or hair (yours or the dogs), you can easy swipe them up with a lint roller so long as the mess isn’t in those annoying tight spaces.

This little hack will get dust, dirt, crumbs and hair right up in a snap and then you can go about your business.

DIY Deep Cleaning Hacks for Cushions

When it does come time for a deep cleaning, you might not know where to start with the seat cushions. I know I’m always afraid to do anything for fear I’ll mess the seats up.

I’ve found some helpful resources for cleaning your car cushions with no worry you’ll do any permanent damage.

I liked this Post from Mom Deals. This one from The Frugal Ginger is only slightly different, but worth sharing.
